    In the US, attorney ethics rules vary somewhat from state to state. In most states, you are clearly entitled to all substantive materials contained in your case file. Unless the retainer/fee agreement clearly obligates you to pay for copying costs in this circumstance, the law firm should give you the documents you want without charge.

    I just finished an intership with a company that does essentially what you do, except that they are already established in the Philadelphia Area. I don't know much, but I think your best bet would be to contact local businesses that might need multimedia stuff. Also, put some time into making a really /really/ kickass site, being as it is what is selling your services.

    I am currently on H1-B, however, I was not staffed on any project and hence was not paid for the past one year and two months. Now I want to apply for a change of status to H4 and found that I may need to provide recent pay stubs for 2-3 months. I was not aware of the rule that in such case one should file a COS within 180 days of H1-B activation. I spoke to my employer about this and he asked me to file for a COS without submitting any pay stubs. In case a RFE comes asking for pay stubs etc, he said we would provide a letter stating that due to personal family problems and relocation problems I was not able to join any project.

    In fact my employer informed me that there were 5 other employees who had the same case recently. All of them had applied for a change of status without any pay stubs and only one of them got an RFE and the above stated letter was sufficient for the RFE response and the COS was subsequently successful.

    I wanted to get advice for the best course of action for filing my Change of Status.

    I am assuming that you are planning to change employers when you change from H1 to L1.

    L1 is only for intra company transfers and you needed to be working with the company for atleast 12 months (used to be 6 months till not long ago) before you are eligible to come in on an L1.

    If it is with the same company, that you plan to change from H1 to L1, what is the advantage other than skipping Labor certification if you are on L1A?

    If you are on H-1, you cannot apply for L-1. You would have to work for a company outside the US for a period of 1 year before you can apply for a L-1 assuming you are in the US currently.

    My wife was in US in Oct 2007 on H4 Visa and went back in Mar '08 while she was in US we applied her H1B in 2008 and was approved and she got her H1B stamped in India and came back to US in Oct 2008. since she did not find any job, her payroll is not running and the her employer wants her to switch back to H4 Visa, and once she finds a project she can change her status back to H1B.

    My Question here is
    1) For COS from H1B to H4, Does she need Pay stubs? and how easy it is for the COS?

    2) Her Employer says that she can apply for H4 Stamping and inform the Visa Officer that during her stay in US she did not join the company for medical reasons. Does this create any issues with her H1B.

    3) Can Some one suggest a good immigration Lawyer in San Diego?

    My wife is primary applicant for 485. We both are continuing on H1 and have EADs. Our Son came as my dependent.

    Our company is brought by another company and countdown has started for our group. Looking at present market conditions I may have to use EAD. Will try to transfer H1 but just in case ...

    Hello, I've been offered a job and have less than 180 days since applied for I485. I have EAD document thourgh my wife as well.

    In case I accept the job offer do I need to withdraw my pending I485?. If will work part time with my current employer will my application be affected in any way?

    No problem from immigration point of view of working part-time on second job.
